Where Did My Baby Go?

I’m beginning to wonder what happened to my child

178

Instead of a cuddly, snuggly baby rolling around on the floor, I now have a little boy who…

Stands at everything (can’t stand or walk on his own yet though… that’ll be a crazy day when that changes!)

Thinks he’s such a big boy when he sits next to Mommy on the couch

Mimics every trick Daddy does with his mouth, blows kisses whenever way say goodbye to someone, and likes to sit on/push around his bike

Points at pictures (they’re above him in this one) and says “puh, puh, puh” until we stop to look at them

Fed himself with a spoon tonight at dinner

Throws a FIT every time he doesn’t get his way—complete with head thrown back, body flung on the ground, screams and yells (all tear free)

Makes sniffing and panting noises every time he sees an animal. Says “T-t” for Toby as soon as we pull in the driveway because he knows we’ll be heading upstairs to let Toby out of his crate. Stands at his highchair to tell us he’s hungry. Can open any drawer he comes across. Stacks blocks 4 high. Raises his arms with a “wee” sound when he stacks said blocks. Says something that sounds like a garbled “I did it!” right after said celebration. Can crawl up a flight of stairs at a quick pace. Can crawl anywhere fast. Is in the 90th percentile for height, 50th for weight, and 93rd for head (no wonder he can’t walk yet—he’s too top heavy).

Makes us laugh. Makes us tired. Makes us frustrated. Makes us smile. Makes us happy. Makes us love him more and more every day.

Jace’s First Birthday

Jace had a great first birthday! February 3 brought: breakfast in bed, cuddle time with Mommy, lunch at Red Robin (and his first kids’ meal), ice cream from Grandma, spaghetti for dinner and bath time with new bath toys from Mommy and Daddy.

Winter4 (2)

We had his party on the Saturday after his birthday. The party was Hungry Caterpillar themed and so much fun for me to decorate for!

Winter5 (3)

Nolan’s parents, my parents, Dan and Anna and their kids, and Jared and Rayanna joined us to celebrate Jace.

Jace was too cute—he knew it was his day. He just kept looking around and smiling as if to say, “Everyone’s here for me.”

When it was time for cake, he wasn’t so sure of it. He was ok with frosting, but unsure of the cake.

Winter6 (2)

It was so much fun to celebrate our one year old!
